How To Play Poker Online
If you are new to onlinepoker, we suggest you start with the version called "Texas Hold em". This is the most widely played onlinepoker game, and other types of poker are based on the basics of Texas Hold em.

The aim of poker is to win money from other poker players by taking a gamble on the cards that have been dealt to you.

All Players are dealt a hand of cards, some of which will be visible, some (or all) will be hidden.
Each player makes a bet on the strength of their cards in rounds of betting.
More cards are dealt. and the hands are developed
At the end, the strongest hand wins a showdown ("I´ll see you") or all players but one have folded (retired).

The most important information is the RANKING of the hands. This is detailed below, strongest is at the top.

Royal Flush:
Ten, Jack, Queen, King, Ace : the same suit.

Straight Flush: or Running Flush
Straight with all five cards in the same suit. (eg all clubs in sequence)

Four of a Kind:
Four cards of the same number or face value ("also known as quads").


Full House:
3 cards of one number or face value and two cards of another number or face value. If 2 or more players have a full house, the hand with the highest ranking three of a kind (or "trips") wins.
eg 2 "5"s and 3 Aces beats 2 "6"s and 3 Kings.

Flush:
5 cards of the same suit. If there is more than 1 flush, the person with the highest card(s) wins.

Straight: or Run
5 cards in a sequence. Ignore the suit. An Ace can be used as "11" (10, J, Q, K, A) or "1" (A, 2, 3, 4, 5).

3 of a Kind:
Three cards of the same number or face value ("trips").

2 Pair:
2 pairs of cards of the same face valaue, eg 2,2 & 6,6. If 2 players have a two pair, the hand with the highest pair wins. If they have the same high pair, whoever has the 2nd highest pair wins. If they have the same two pair, whoever has the highest fifth card ("or the kicker") wins.

One Pair:
2 cards of the same number. If 2 players have the same pair, the highest outside card(s) wins.

High Card:
The hand with the highest card(s) wins.
